Problema Solution

I have different cargo, to be to be shipped by a truck. Each crate of Cargo A is 30 cubic feet in volume and weighs 120 pounds. Each crate of cargo B is 20 cubic feet in volume and weighs 100 pounds. The shipping company collects $180 per crate for cargo A and $140 per crate for cargo B. The truck has a maximum load limit of 1,200 cubic feet and 5,400 pounds.

What is the highest possible revenue the shipping company can earn?

Answer provided by our tutors

let us suppose shiiping company ships x crates of A and y crates of B

now we have the two conditons

120x + 100 y should be less than equal to 5400 ( maximum load limit)

30x + 20 y should be less than equal to 1200 ( maximum load limit)

we have to maximize 180x + 140y

using linear graphs the values of x and y comes to be 20 for x and 30 for y

the  maximum revenue comes out to be

180*20 +140*30

3600 + 4200

7800

hence the maximum revenue the shipping company could earn is 7800 which is when it ships 20 crates of A and 30 crates of b
