Let "w" be the width then length l=w+3.
2(l+w)=24.
l=3+w.
2(3+w+w)=24.
3+2w=12.
2w=12-3=9.
w=9/2.
=4.5.
l=3+w=3+4.5.
=7.5.
length l=7.5 inches.
width w=4.5 inches.
