Q1) In 1981 John exactly half his father's age.

Let n = year which john's age is half of his father age

(45+n)=(24+n)*2

45+n=48+2n

n=-3

1984-3=1981

Ans = In 1981

Q2) He pay for 295 pencils

let X is the number of pencils which the boy bought

X*60=(X+5)*59

60x=59x+295

x=295

Ans = 295
