For thefunctionf(x)= -1/2(x + 5)^2 + 8

What is the Vertex?

                (-5,  8)

What is theAxis of Symmetry?

               x=-5

Describe the max or min value of the function?

               maximum is 8

What is the y-intercept?

            f(0)=-(1/2)*5^2+8=-9/2

What equation would you solve to find the x-intercepts of the function? Draw a graph.

            -(1/2)*(x+5)^2+8=0

So,

             x=-1  or x=-9
