Problema Solution

The area of a right triangle is 84cm2.if one of its leg is 24cm long find the length of the other 2 sides of the other triangle

Answer provided by our tutors

A = 84 cm^2

a = 24 cm

b = the other leg

c = the hypotenuse

Since the area A = (1/2)ab we have:

(1/2)24b = 84

12b = 84 divide both sides by 12

b = 84/12

b = 7 cm

Using the Pythagorean Theorem we will find the hypotenuse:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

c^2 = 24^2 + 7^2

c^2 = 625

c = 25 cm

The lengths of the other two sides of the right triangle are 7 cm and 25 cm.
