Problema Solution
The dimensions of a certain computer monitor screen are such that its length is 3 inches more than its width. If the length is increased by 1 inch while the width remains the same, the area is increased by 16 square inches.
Answer provided by our tutors
Let width is 'x' inches.
So, Length=(x+3) inches.
So, Area is x(x+3).
When length is increased by 1 and width remain same then area is (x+3+1)x = (x + 4)x.
So, x(x+3)+16=(x+4)x
