the front of an A frame cabin a national park is in the shape of a triangle, with an area of 315 ft^2. If the height is 1 ft less than twice the base, find the base and the height of the front of the cabin.

The square area of the face of the A frame is equal to "(1/2)bh" where 'b' is the base and 'h' is the height.  Let 'b' represent the base and then '2b-1' represents the height. 

315=(1/2)b(2b-1)

2*18-1 = 35

So the base is 18 feet and the height is 35 feet.
