The length of a rectangle is 20cm. Its breadth is 1/4 shorter than the length. What is the area of the rectangle?

The answer is given 70cm.. How ca it be?

Assuming the width (breadth) is 1/4 of the length we have:

width = 20/4 = 5 cm

length = 20 cm

A = area

A = width*length

A = 5*20

A = 100 cm^2

The area is 100 cm^2.
