Problema Solution

The perimeter of the base of a regular quadrilateral prism is 32 cm. The height of the prism is 2 times greater than the length of the base edge. Find the sum of all edges of the prism.

Answer provided by our tutors

Let

a = the base edge (the base is square)

h = 2a the height of the prism

The perimeter of the base is:

4a = 32 divide both sides by 4

a = 32/4

a = 8 in

h = 2*8

h = 16 in

The sum of all edges is:

8a + 4h = 8*8 + 4*16 = 64 + 64 = 128 in

The sum of all edges if the prism is 128 inches.
