Problema Solution

what is the x coordinate of the vertex of the parabola defined by the function f(x) = -9x + 7x + 7

Answer provided by our tutors

f(x) = -9x + 7x + 7

...this equation, no doubt, contains an error and "-9x" should be "-9x^2"

This is not a word problem and should be answered through Algebrator. The Algebrator Parabola Wizard has one titled "Vertex of a parabola". Your equation is expressed in functional notation. It should be noted that the only place in the software where functional notation is accepted, and is in fact required, is one of the Function wizards. In all other instances, equations provided using functional notation should be entered without the functional notation because syntactically "f(x)" is equivalent to "the variable f multiplied by the variable x, in parentheses". So to simply graph a function within a new worksheet or to use the function in a non-Function wizard, replace "f(x)" with a single variable, such as "y".

y = -9x^2 + 7x + 7
