Problema Solution

When Mr. J. Raff took his two children to the zoo, their tickets cost $8.75. The next family in line was Mrs. Ella with Grandpa and the five kids. Their tickets cost at total of $19.75. How much does the zoo charge for each adult and for each child? Need for tomorrow due on 12/14/16. (I get after school detention if I don't turn this in tomorrow):/

Answer provided by our tutors

Let

a = the charge for each adult

c = the charge for each child

The tickets for 1 adult (Mr. J. Raff) and 2 children cost $8.75 means:

a + 2c = 8.75

The tickets for 2 adults (Mrs. Ella and Grandpa) and 5 kids cost $19.75 means:

2a + 5c = 19.75

We have the following system of equations:

a + 2c = 8.75

2a + 5c = 19.75

........

a = $4.25

c = $2.25

The zoo charges $4.25 for each adult and $2.25 for each child.
