Problema Solution
When three pumps, A, B and C, are running together, they can pump 3200
gal per hour. When only A and B are running, 1700
gal per hour can be pumped. When only A and C are running, 2100
gal per hour can be pumped. What is the pumping capacity of each pump?
Answer provided by our tutors
Let A, B and C represent the pumping capacities of the pumps A, B and C respectively.
Now we can write:
A + B + C = 3500
A + B = 1700
A + C = 2100

........
A = 300 gal per hour
B = 1400 gal per hour
C = 1800 gal per hour
The pumping capacity of pump A is 300 gal per hour.
The pumping capacity of pump B is 1400 gal per hour.
The pumping capacity of pump C is 1800 gal per hour.
