Problema Solution

You have a supply of computer disks. You give one half of your supply to the second shift supervisor. He gives 1/3 to Joe and 1/2 to Lawanda. The rest he gave to Jose. Jose gave 1/2 of his to Ted. Ted received 25 disks. How many disks did you have?

We will go backwards:

Ted received 25 disks.

Since Jose gave 1/2 of his to Ted means Jose had 2*25 = 50 disks.

The shift supervisor have 1 - (1/3 + 1/2) = 1 - 5/6 = 1/6 to Jose meaning the shift supervisor had 6*50 = 300 discs.

Since you gave half of your disks to the shift supervisor and that is 300 disks, the total number of disks that you had is 2*300 = 600 disks.
