Problema Solution

A girl drops a ball from a height of 10 feet. Each time the ball hits the ground, it bounces to 2/3 it's pervious height. Which equation gives y , the height of the ball after x bounces?

Answer provided by our tutors

Staring height: 10 ft

After 1 bounce: 10*(2/3)

After 2 bounces: 10(2/3)(2/3) = 10(2/3)^2

After 3 bounces: 10(2/3)^3

After x bounces: 10(2/3)^x

That is: y = 10(2/3)^x
