1. write interms of x, an expression for the number of points scored by B.

A scored x points and B scored 3 points fewer so
1. Expression for B will be (x - 3).
Also, C score twice points as B so C will score 2(x - 3).
2. The expression which is used to find the value of x will be:
x + (x - 3) + 2(x - 3) = 39
4x - 9 = 39
4x = 48
x = 12.
