Problema Solution

If 800 ml of juice is15% grape juice.how much grape juice should be added to make a drink that is 20% grape juice?

Answer provided by our tutors

800 ml of 15% grape juice

y/800 = 0.15

y = 120 ml of pure grape juice was used

800 - 120 = 680

so 120 ml of grape juice was mixed with 680 ml of base used to make the 800 ml of 15% juice

We want a 20% mixture by adding 'x' ml of pure grape juice to this 800 ml batch

(120+x)/(800+x)=0.20

(120+x) = 160 + 0.20x

40 = x - .20 x = 0.80 x

x = 40 / 0.80 = 50

so adding 50 ml of pure grape juice is requred
