Parking in a student lot cost $2 for the first half hour and #1.25 for each hour thereafter. A partial hour is charged the same as a full hour. What is the longest time that a student can park in this lot for $10?

Since the first half hour is charged 2$ he will have 8 $ left. thereafter it is 1.25 per half hour. dividing 8/1.25=6 + something . therefore he will be able to keep it for 7 half hours ie 210 minutes.
