Problema Solution
If one side of a square is increased by 12 feet and an adjacent side is decreased by 3 feet. a rectangle is formed whose perimeter is 64 feet. Draw a diagram and find the length of the side of the original square. Write the equation and solve it. Be sure to define the variables you use.
Answer provided by our tutors
increased length = x+12
Breadth = x-3
P= 2(l+b)
Ie, 64 = 2(x+12+x-3)
Or, 32 = 2x+9
Or, 2x=23
X= 12.5 feet
Length (x) = 12.5+12 = 24.5
Breadth = 12.5 - 3 = 9 ft
