Problema Solution

Suppose you have a job in an ice cream shop that pays $6 an hour. You also have a baby sitting job that pays $4 per hour. You want to earn AT LEAST $60 per week but would like to work no more than 12 hours a week.

1. Write a system of linear inequalites that describes this situation.

Answer provided by our tutors

Let x= number of hours worked in the ice-cream shop

Let y= number of hours worked in baby sitting

6x + 4y >= 60

6x + 4y -4y >= 60 -4y

x >= 10- (2y/3)

when y=3, x=8   and wen y=0 , x=10

x + y <= 12

x<=12-y

when y=12, x=0 and wen y=0 x=12

Both will be solid lines

solutions can be (8,3) (10,2) etc
