Problema Solution

While traveling from point A to point B by bike you went 18 mph. When traveling from point B to point A you went 13 mph. What was the average speed for the round-trip?

Answer provided by our tutors

Let the distance A-B : D mile

-> Time taken to travel to B (time = distance / velocity): D/18 hr

-> Time taken to travel back to A = D/13 hr

=> total time : D/13 + D/18 = 31D/234 hr

Total distance will be: D+D = 2D miles

-> avg speed = distance/time =  2D / (31D/234) = 15.097 mph
