Problema Solution
the office manager of an election campaign needs to print 6000 postcards. Suppose that it costs 2 cents to print a large postcard, and 1 cent to print a small postcard. If $92.00 is given for printing postcards, how many of each can be printed?
Answer provided by our tutors
Assume he can print x number of large and y number of small posters
Therefore, x+y = 6000 ..... (1) (since, election campaign needs to print 6000 postcards)
now x number of large postcard will cost 2x cent and y numver of small poster will cost y cent (since, it costs 2 cents to print a large postcard, and 1 cent to print a small postcard)
Therefore, 2x+y = 9200 ... (2) (Since, $92.00 is given for printing postcards)
Subtracting eqn 1 from eqn 2,
x = 9200-6000=3200
Putting this value of x in eqn 1,
3200+y = 6000
or y = 6000-3200 = 2800
So, He will print 3200 large posters and 2800 small posters (Answer).
