The radius of the circle inscribed in a right triangle is 3 and the perimeter is 40. Find the length of the hypotenuse.

Solution:

The lengths are x, y, sqrt(x^2+y^2)

x+y+sqrt(x^2+y^2)= 40

xy = 120

So

x=15

y=8

So hypotenuse = sqrt(15^2+8^2)= 17
