Jared is very interested in cryogenics. With the help of his science teacher he is doing an experiment on the effect of low temperatures on bacteria. He cools one sample of bacteria to a temperature of -51°C and another to -76°C. What was the temperature difference in the two experiments?

The temperature difference in the first experiment is t - (-51) = t + 51 degrees Celsius
The temperature difference in the second experiment is t - (-76) = t + 76 degrees Celsius
If the beginning temperature of the bacteria in the lab is equal to t = 25 degrees Celsius (the standard laboratory temperature of 25 degrees Celsius) then the temperature difference will be:
First experiment: t + 51 = 25 + 51 = 76 degrees Celsius
Second experiment: t + 76 = 25 + 76 = 101 degrees Celsius
