in a shop I bought a 53p comic and a £1.47 model car. The till said £54.47. Why?

This is possible if you bought
100 comics by the price of 53p per comic or that is 0.53 pounds since 1 pound = 100p and
one £1.47 model car that is
100 * 0.53 + 1*1.47 = 53 + 1.47 = 54.47 pounds
