Problema Solution

determine the vertex, the axis of symmetry and the range of each quadratic funtion.Then draw its graph.

a. f(x)= x2-4x+4

b. g(x)= 2x2+1

c. F(x)= -x2+6x-5

d. G(x)= -4x2+8x-5

Please use a trial version of Algebrator to determine these values and graph the functions. For each equation, you should replace the functional notation with a single variable. The following entries into the software would be appropriate:

y = x^2 - 4x + 4

y = 2x^2 + 1

y = -x^2 + 6x - 5

y = -4x^2 + 8x - 5

Please use one of the following links to obtain a free trial of the program:

Once the software is installed, simply press the Wizard button, expand the category Polynomial and choose the appropriate wizard. You could also obtain all the required information by simply graphing the equation since the software will manipulate the equation into the standard form for graphing. For a parabolic equation, the standard form is y = a(x - h)^2 + k, from which direction (polarity of "a") and axis of symmetry (value of "h"), etc. may be determined by inspection. The software will identify the vertex in the graph itself.
