Paul left springfield traveling north at an average speed of 58 miles per hour. Two hours later Tim left springfield traveling at an average speed of 64 miles per hour. How long will it take after paul left for them to be 848 miles apart?

Distance = speed x time

Distance travelled by Paul for t H = 58t

Disatnce travelled by Tim Tim = 64t

Now, since Paul travels north and Tim south, their distance apart will be the sum of the distances they've travelled.

So after time t,

distance apart = 58t+64t= 122t

For them to be 848 miles apart, we need to find t such that:

122t = 848

t = 848/122 = 6.95 hours.

6.95 Hrs  or  say 7 Hrs.

It will take  7-2 =5 Hrs after paul left for them to be 848 miles apart.
