Problema Solution

A ball is dropped from a height of 64 feet. Its height above the earth in feet is given by h(r)=-16r(2)(squared or to the second power)=64, where t is the number of seconds after it is dropped.

a. Find h(1).

b. How long does it take the ball to fall to the earth?

Answer provided by our tutors

h(r)= -16r^2 +64.

a) h(1)= -16(1)^2 +64= -16+64= 48feet

b)h(r)=0

so, -16r^2 +64= 0

r^2= 64/16= 4

r= 2

so, 2secs. is the answer of part b)
