Problema Solution

Two different scholarships are to be given to two students at a local High School. If there are 9 students in the chess club, 12 students in the math club and 8 students in the drama club, how many different ways can the scholarships be given to students in different clubs?

Answer provided by our tutors

9*12=108 is the number of ways they can be divided between chess and math club.

9*8=72 is the number of ways they can be divided between chess and drama club.

8*12=96 is the number of ways they can be divided between math and drama club.

108+72+96=276 is the number of ways the scholarships can be divided amongst the students if the scholarships are the same.

If there are two different scholarships, each pair of students can receive them two different ways and the total number of ways will be:

276*2=552
