a buyer of an appliances store bought a supply of electric fans in P1092 per electric fan. One-half of these electric fans were sold at P1349 each and the other half were sold at P1249. IIf the gross profit was P13500, how many electric fans were in the supply?

Let x be the amount of Electric fan supply

Answer provided by our tutors

Let the number of fans be x

Buying cost per fan=P1092

Total buying cost=1092x

The cost of the fans sold at P1349=1349*x/2

The cost of the fans sold at P1249=1249*x/2

Total cost of selling=(1249+1349)*x/2=2598*x/2=1351x

Profit = 1351x-1092x=259x

But in the problem the profit is P13500

=> 259x=13500

=> x = 13500/259=52

So the number of fans=52
