Solve the equation

2log(x+1)=x-1

Round to the nearest hundredth. If there is more than one solution seperate with commas.

Solution:

2log(x+1)=x-1

log(x+1)^2 =x-1

(x+1)^2 = 10^(x-1)

We use Excel to find the solution

x = -0.89 or x = 1.94

So

x = -0.89, 1.94
