Problema Solution

The smallest angle in a triangle measures 90 degrees less than the largest angle. the middle angle measures 60 degrees less than the largest angle. Find the measure of each angle

Answer provided by our tutors

the sum of the angle measures in a triangle is always 180 degrees

let the largest angle measure x degrees

the smallest is then x - 90

the middle is then x - 60

set the sum of the three angles equal to 180

x + x - 90 + x - 60 = 180

3x - 150 = 180

3x = 330

x = 110

so the largest angle is 110 degrees

the smallest angle is 110 - 90, or 20 degrees

and the middle angle is 110 - 60, or 50 degrees
