The perimeter of a triangle with 2 equal sides is 42cm. If its base were lengthened by 7cm and each leg were shortened by 5 cm, all 3 sides would be equal. Find the length of the base of the original triangle

The equation is
x+7 = (42-x)/2 -5
So
x = 6
So length of the base of the original triangle is 6 cm
