The perimeter of a triangle with 2 equal sides is 42cm. If its base were lengthened by 7cm and each leg were shortened by 5cm, all 3 sides would be equal. Find the length of the base of the original triangle.

and the base is y
x+x+y=42(sum of all sides)
again
x-5=y+7
=>x=y+12
thus putting in equ
2(y+12)+y=42
=> 3y=42-36=6
=>y=2
thus x=2+12=14
thus three sides are 2,14,14
